COVID-19 Update from Grand Canyon Conservancy

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a top concern for our country at this time. As the official partner of Grand Canyon National Park, Grand Canyon Conservancy (GCC) is taking the health of Grand Canyon National Park visitors, Field Institute participants, our employees, and our community very seriously.

GCC is following the same protocols as the National Park Service to help guide our operational response to COVID-19. We are relying on the latest information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Office of Personnel and Management (OPM), state and local public health authorities, and the Department of the Interior (DOI) Office of Emergency Management (OEM). Please visit the National Park Service website to keep up to date with how they are handling the response. For the latest updates on Grand Canyon National Park operations please visit https://www.nps.gov/grca/index.htm.

GCC retail stores at Grand Canyon National Park are open for business with their regularly scheduled hours of operation.

GCC Field Institute classes and trips are still on schedule, and we continue to accept reservations online.

We have updated our Field Institute cancellation policy:

  • Students canceling for COVID-related concerns or symptoms may receive a full refund.* Full tuition refunds will be issued to students immediately upon a class cancellation.
  • Students canceling a Field Institute class always have the option to repurpose their course fee into a future class or a charitable donation to Grand Canyon Conservancy.
  • As always, the Field Institute strongly advises participants to secure trip insurance to cover any disruptions in travel plans.

*Note: The cancellation/refund policy for Field Institute river trips may differ. Please inquire.

At this time, the annual Grand Gathering is on schedule for May 15-17, 2020. Reservations can be made online.

If you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail us at gcconservancy@grandcanyon.org.

Grand Canyon Conservancy is focused on ensuring our visitors, employees, and their families are safe. We will share any changes immediately through e-mail or on our website at grandcanyon.org.

Sincerely,

Theresa McMullan
Chief Executive Officer
