Friends of Flagstaff Monuments COVID-19 Alerts

Flagstaff, AZ – The Flagstaff Area National Monuments (Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater Volcano, and Wupatki) are announcing additional modifications to operations in response to guidance from the Coconino County Health Department.

The health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, and partners is our number one priority. The National Park Service (NPS) is working service-wide with federal, state, and local authorities to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic.

Effective Saturday, March 28, 2020, Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater Volcano, and Wupatki National Monuments will be closed to all park visitors until further notice. Forest Service Road 545 (the road connecting Sunset Crater Volcano and Wupatki) and Black Falls Crossing Road will remain open for residential traffic.

We will notify the public when we resume full operations and provide updates on our websites (nps.gov/waca, nps.gov/sucr, nps.gov/wupa) and social media channels.

Updates about NPS operations will be posted on www.nps.gov/coronavirus.
