Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon National Park achieved full International Dark-Sky in May 2019 after a lengthy retrofit process that began in 2016.

The primary part of the process included outfitting the thousands of exterior lights in the park to decrease the amount of light pollution and enhance night sky star visibility.

With over 5,000 exterior light fixtures, this was a huge undertaking. It was accomplished by 2019 with the majority of funding coming from the Grand Canyon Conservancy, the official non-profit partner of the park.

Grand Canyon National Park is supported by its member organization, Grand Canyon Conservancy.
